Number of
people using some kind of motorized vehicle apart from a car either for
entertainment and recreation or management of property or business is
increasing. Investing in motorized vehicle isn’t cheap and one might need to
spend additional amount on maintaining them from time to time.
No matter
which kind of motorized vehicle you use, with the help of following five ways
you can keep the cost of maintenance low and make these vehicles last for a
longer lifetime.
Clean the
exterior regularly : A lot of people don’t know that just like changing the
engine oil ensures that the engine would last longer due to clean oil, it is
essential to keep the dust, dirt and other foreign substances away from the
exterior of your motorized vehicle. If possible try to clean your dirt bike
with soap and water each time you return from a trail ride, this will help it
to last longer. Remove the filth and dirt that has accumulated around the
mechanical parts as it may get into the inner workings of the engine.
Drying :
The motorized vehicle must be cleaned with clean cloth after you wash it as
water may clog up in the mechanical parts and cause rust. Drying it off before
it hardens and drying expensive parts such as engine will stop them from
entering and clogging up in various parts and engine lines.
Change
engine oil regularly : Changing the engine oil is an inexpensive and easy way
to keep the engine free from foreign particles and running in a good condition.
Changing engine oil after three rides of your UTV such as Arctic Cat Wildcat or Can
Am Side By Side, dirt bike, ATV or side by side will keep the engine in
best condition. If that is not possible,
it must be changed at least every few months.
Store your
motorized vehicle away from weather elements : When your motorized precious
investment is exposed to direct sunlight, the paint and the graphic decals on
it may fade. Too much of heat even causes expansion of various mechanical parts
and weaken them and shorten their life. Similarly with continuous cold
temperatures that are extreme such as snow, rain, heavy winds etc. are bad too.
They can cause shrinkage of rubber, copper, metal and other several materials
of wires, lines, bolts, nuts etc. to weaken and therefore reduces their life.
If there is no other choice but to store your investment outdoors, you must
keep them covered with some kind of protective cover in order to minimize the
wear and tear caused by natural elements even when you are not using your
vehicle.
Start it
up regularly : Even if you do not use your vehicle for several months or weeks
at a time, you must at least start it once a week or once a month. Let it run
at least for ten minutes. If the gasoline and oils keep flowing through several
lines and parts of engine, then the life of the engine, battery and other parts
is better.
